Seifen Werkstatt 2. Runde - Soap Workshop round 2

Am Samstag, 22. März 2014, 8.00 - 12.00 Uhr, werde ich im Freizeitzentrum in Sarnen einen weiteren Einführungskurs in die Welt des Seifensiedens geben. Wer Lust und Zeit hat kann sich direkt beim FZO anmelden (www.fzo.ch). Ich freue mich auf den Kurs und hoffe sehr, dass er durchgeführt werden kann. Ihr seid alle herzlich willkommen!

Something different - mal was anderes

Ich hoffe, ihr seid alle gut im neuen Jahr angekommen und habt das alte gut abgeschlossen?!

I hope you all arrived well in the new year and finished the old one well?!

Mein letztes Jahr war sehr turbulent und es hat sich einiges ereignet... Zu meiner grossen Freude, kommen meine Seifen wirklich gut bei den Leuten an, ich hatte zwei erfolgreiche Märkte und einen vollen Seifensiedekurs. Ein grosses DANKE an alle, die mich in irgendeiner Weise seifentechnisch und andersweitig unterstützt haben!!!

My last year was very moving and a few fundamental things changed... I'm very happy that people like my soaps a lot and that I had a fully booked, first soap workshop. MANY THANKS to all the supportive people around me!!!

Ich verbrachte die Weihnachtstage bei meiner dänischen Familie - mange tack!!! - und tanzte zum ersten Mal um den Weihnachtsbaum. Wunderbar!

I spent christmas with my danish family - mange tack!!! - and danced for the first time around the christmas tree. Wonderful!

Und dann habe ich seit Oktober auch noch zwei neue Mitbewohner: Aramir und Miro, zwei superscheue Kater. Sie werden immer mutiger und zeigen sich vermehrt! Nur das mit dem wirklich nahe kommen und streicheln haben sie noch nicht richtig geschafft. Aber auch das werden sie wohl noch lernen - alles zu seiner Zeit - oder wenn es denn Katzen eben passt. 

Since october I have to new fellows: Aramir and Miro, two super shy tomcats. Though... they are getting braver and show themself more and more. But they haven't discovered yet that petting is a nice thing. One day they will learn it!

Wenn die Festtage vorbei sind werde ich mir wieder grünes Licht für die Siedeküche geben. Die anhaltende Siedepause habe ich mir zwangsauferlegt. Irgendwann muss ich ja mal durchatmen und mich erholen können. Sonst kommt das nicht gut. 

After the holiday I will allow myself to get back to the soap kitchen again. I had to stop myself from soaping for a while - I need to breath in between!

Es kamen so viele Menschen an die zwei Märkte, dass ich schlicht und einfach keine Zeit zum Photographieren hatte! Deshalb kann ich euch nur ein paar Seifenbilder zeigen, so wie die Seifen kurz vor dem Verkauf, also verpackt, ausgesehen haben.

I was so busy on these two market days that I simply didn't have the time to take some pictures. So I can only show you a few pictures of my soaps shortly before they were sold... They all have names written in my dialect. I don't know how many people understand them - as my dialect is pretty strong.

männersach means (translated word by word): men's things - a shaving soap

chatzäwesch is what cats are doing: they wash themselves all over - a shampoo soap

chirbiss is a word game. chirbis means pumpkin and written with two "s" it means to bite - well... a biting pumpkin or so

lachends zebra: smiling zebra

milchstrass: milky way - a soap with goat milk

mandeltigr: almond tiger

birkäwald: birch forest

schläckmuil: muil means mouth, schläckä means to lick. so it's a licking mouth - a honey-lavender soap

fäderliächt: as light as a feather

blüemlisalp: is the name of a mountain. there's also a song called like that. and my soap has lots of petals on top!

entre terre et ciel: classic lavender soap - what grows between earth and sky? lavender!

Beschäftigt - busy

Oje... lange ist mein letzter Post her. Ich war fleissig: mein 1. Seifensiedekurs habe ich erfolgreich hinter mich gebracht. Das gleiche gilt für den Koffermarkt in Luzern und den Weihnachtsmarkt in Sarnen. Da zwei Anlässe eher kurzfristig waren, musst ich bei der Produktion Vollgas geben. Aber der Einsatz hat sich gelohnt. Ich habe gut verkauft und es hat vor allem Spass gemacht. Ich lege eine Seifenpause ein - ist zwar etwas schwierig, wenn man süchtig ist...

It's been a long time since my last post. I was very busy: I had a successful first soap workshop. So was the "Koffermarkt" in Lucerne and the christmas market in Sarnen. Two events were quite short notice hence I had to be very productive. I enjoyed this time and it was worth it. I sold lots of soaps and it was good fun! Now I will have a break - though it's a bit difficult if you are addicted... 

Seifen Werkstatt 1. Teil - Soap workshop part one

Gestern war es also so weit: meine erste Seifenwerkstatt! Es war herausfordernd, hat mir aber sehr Spass gemacht. Learing by doing war das Motto. Wir haben also, nachdem ich ein paar wichtige Dinge gesagt habe, gleich angefangen. Am Ende des Abends waren alle Seifen in der Form, es sind keine Pannen passiert und nun warten wahrscheinlich alle mehr oder weniger geduldig auf den zweiten Abend. Ja... Seifen sieden braucht Geduld. Das hat sich auch gestern gezeigt. Immer wieder... ein guter Lehrmeister. Besten Dank auch an den Photographen, der am Ende des Abends noch zu uns gestossen ist und ein paar Impressionen festgehalten hat.

Finally it was time to give my first soap workshop ever! It was challenging, but I enjoyed it a lot. Learning by doing was the motto. First I said a few important things about soap making and then we started to make our first soap ever. At the end of the evening all soaps were successfully sleeping in their molds, no accidents and now we all have to wait till next friday when the second part will be on. Yes... you need to be patient for soap making. Even yesterday. It's a good teacher these soaps! Special thanks to the photographer who joined us later in the evening.

Vielen Dank den acht Teilnehmerinnen, dass ihr euch auf dieses Experiment eingelassen habt. Ich hoffe, es hat euch Spass gemacht und ich freue mich auf den zweiten Abend mit euch!

Soap workshop here we go!!! I'm curious, slightly nervous and happy!

Birkäwald - birch forest

Oje... es passiert seit Sommer einfach so viel, dass ich irgendwie den Überblick etwas verloren habe... und ich habe auch nicht von allen Seifen Bilder gemacht. Aber eben. Die Zeit läuft mir etwas davon: in 2 Wochen gebe ich meinen 1. Seifenkurs und dann folgt der Weihnachtsmarkt etc. Ich bin am Nachsieden von alten "Klassikern". Dazu gehört auch "birkäwald". Das war die 2. bestverkaufte Seife vom letztjährigen Weihnachtsmarkt. Ich war erstaunt, denn ich finde den Duft viel zu dominant und zu heftig. Aber gut, wenn es gefällt... bitteschön:

Ok... so many things are happening since summer that I've lost control of my things... So I missed to take pictures of a few soaps. And in two weeks I'm giving my first soap workshop and then I'll go to the christmas market. At the moment I'm "resoaping" a few classic soaps from last year. "birkäwald" is one of them. It was the 2nd best sold soap - even though I don't know why. I don't like the smell of it (but people liked it). It's too dominant and too strong. Well... if people like it. Here we go:

Drin ist: Olivenöl, Rapsöl, Sheabutter, Jojobaöl, Stearin, Zedernöl, Bergamotteöl, Salbeiöl, Titandioxid und Eisenoxid.

There is in: olive oil, rape seed oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, stearin, cedar oil, bergamot oil, sage oil, titanium dioxid and iron dioxid.
